![]() January 2010 As we began this year 2010, it is important that we make an assessment in our lives to ascertain whether we are growing spiritually on this Christian road of life. Are we complacent and lackadaisical, or are we satisfied where we are? It is time to shift gears. If you know how to drive a stick shift, you realize the importance of the knowledge of shifting gears, more so than the automatic shift. For with the stick shift, you are readily aware when you have made the shift to 2nd gear or 3rd gear, etc. You have applied the clutch just right and the car moves steadily. More importantly, in order to shift a gear with the stick shift, speed has to be applied. As we make this analogous to our spiritual lives, then we need to pick up some speed and shift gears in this year 2010 to the glory of God. As we assess our spiritual lives, let us remember that we are new creatures in the Lord and we are baptized in the newness of life with Jesus Christ. Our old sin nature has DIED and therefore, we are no more servants of sin. You see, it is the sin that keeps us from picking up speed and shifting gears on this Christian road of life. We are unable to be alive and have the joy of our salvation. So how do I increase speed? Do not let sin reign in our mortal bodies, and do not yield the members of our bodies as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin. Instead, we yield our members of our bodies as instruments unto righteousness unto God. When we do this, we can accelerate on this road of life and we will pick up speed and live alive unto God. So, let us shift gears to reach our potential in Jesus Christ. Do not stay in that same gear of last year. Speed out of sin and shift gears to the newness of life and enjoy all the forthcoming benefits of a renewed you. Be ten times better in 2010 to the glory of God. Be encouraged.
