December 2009

We will share Words of Encouragement each month as led by the Holy Spirit that will encourage you in your daily walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. Be Encouraged.

It is not easy to study the Word of God and we have justifiable reasons for the lack of study. I do not have time, there are too many translations, and I do not understand what I read, and where am I in the Word, are just a few of our excuses.

As we approach the end of this year 2009 and hopefully enter 2010, how about making a concerted effort to study the Word of God. It is sometimes recommended that a believer of Jesus Christ should start with the study of the book of John because it gives the deity of Jesus Christ, however, you may find it easier to study the book of Proverbs following the day of the month. (Example, the 7th of the month, study Proverbs 7).

Pray for the Holy Spirit to give you understanding of the passage. Read the verses aloud if you can; meditate on those verses and discover yourself in the verses.

Love your Bible, read your Bible, write in the margins of your Bible, and highlight particular verses that bring you hope. The highlights and markings are references for you, as well as for the next generation to read and reflect on your references.

One of my numerous Bibles is one that was given to me by a blind man. When he had his eyesight, he read the Bible through, and at the end of each chapter, he placed a check mark. When I complete my reading of that chapter, I place a check mark beside his. It is a blessing unto me, and hopefully it will be a blessing to the next reader and readers down through generations.

Be encouraged - The Bible promotes comfort and brings transformation to our lives to the Glory of God.
